Adventure Through Katavi National Park
Katavi National Park is a rare glimpse into untouched parts of Africa. Discover this land of abundant wildlife, dramatic landscapes and unsurpassable wildlife sightings.

History of Katavi National Park
Established in 1974, Katavi National Park remains one of Tanzania's best-kept secrets, welcoming fewer than 5 000 annual visitors. Its far-out location is a paradise for adventurous travellers.

Change of the Seasons
It’s best to visit before the rains arrive in November, when the wildlife parades to the last of the water. April is the wettest month of the year and all camps in the national park are closed from March to May.

Wildlife in Katavi National Park
This Tanzanian national park is renowned for its exceptional wildlife viewing. Witness massive herds of buffalo, elephant, and hippo, along with predators like tree-climbing lion, leopard, as well as plains game including Defassa waterbuck, topi, sable and roan.

Landscapes
Katavi's landscapes range from vast floodplains and Miombo woodlands to the life-giving Katuma River. This variety of habitats supports a remarkable diversity of flora and fauna.

Birding in Katavi National Park
Katavi is a birdwatcher's paradise with some 273 bird species taking to the skies, from eight species of kingfisher to Lilac-breasted roller, African fish eagle and saddle-billed stork.
