  • Great retreat, really in the middle of wildlife

We were spoiled on this camp, being the only guests. Very confortable tents, excellent food, very friendly staff, all was really nice. Wildlife coming close to our terrasse. View on the huge plain of the park.

  • Katavi was an experience. Firstly we were the only guests in the only still open camp Katavi Wildlife Camp. Secondly, we had enormous luck with the weather, being the rainy season we had basically sun or some cloudy skies but no rain for 4 days.

  • The location of the lodge is perfect! Overlooking the ocre tinted plains of the dry season, just before the rains started. Not luxurious but a luxury to have such comfortable, well designed, spacious, clean, well maintained tents!

When to Visit

Katavi enjoys a 6 month dry period from June through to end October. As the park dries out the animals are concentrated into smaller areas contributing to the spectacularly large herds. From November to February the park turns green and lush, still with excellent viewing and better than ever bird populations.
